Fashion on Friday:Exercise

Coral Fusion-colored exercise skirt and top notwithstanding, I have fallen out of synch this summer, even though Living-Coral (Pantone 16-1546) is showing up on the Fall 2010 Color list and keeping me fashionable.

Yes, I have exercised regularly, but my eating habits have gotten out of wack.

I need to retake this test in portion control because,
there's just a little too much of me in this picture.

You're probably thankful that I'm not as brave as Jamie Lee Curtis (link to photo), although I do appreciate her frankness in an effort to be real.

So, it's time to make a public confession by listing my bad habits and shaming myself into shape.

Here's what I look like after walking 45 minutes in my hilly neighborhood.

Pretty red in the face, huh?

Despite the drawstring pants,

I still claim fashion points for sporting shorts that qualify as

Herb (Spring report color) and

Woodbine (Fall report color), okay?

Here's the list of habits to fashion together with this fitness plan.

1) Drink more water.
2) Drink less alcohol.
3) Eat more fruit/veggies.
4) Eat fewer chips/chocolate.
5) Eat more protein at breakfast.
6) Eat less fat at dinner.
7) Increase exercise to 4 hours per week.
8) Decrease telly time to 10 hours per week.
9) Improve the mood.
10) Disprove the scales.

Are you ready?

Set?

Go!!

  1. Hello Dana,

Always enjoy your thoughtful posts. Thank you for the reminder to take action for good health.

This spring I was thoroughly delighted when I lost 25 pounds using the book, The Last 15, by Dr. Joey Shulman. I still want to lose 10 more to reach my target weight.

I don't have a lot of time, but Dr. Joey's plan is simple and uses ordinary food that we consume anyway. So I'll stick with her.

Thanks again for your gentle nudge.

    Blessings,
    Honey Bee

  2. My exercise went by the wayside when I contracted Mono and I am still pretty sick and unable to do much with the added instructions that I MUST not overdo it until I am completely better.

Needless to say I have packed on a few lbs and have been rather sad since I wasn't sure what to do about it.

Then I had a epiphany which I am thanking the Lord for. I KNOW dieting doesn't work but I starting thinking about those people who get their stomach's stapled and can only eat tiny amounts. So I started pretending my stomach was tiny and could only eat small amounts at a time like a cup of yogurt size. I try not to let myself get too hungry with blood sugar swings so I am grazing on tiny amounts all day now. I have never been a grazer and I suspect most overweight people are not. We are so busy trying NOT to eat that we get in the habit of going long periods between meals. I rarely ever have eaten 3 meals a day. This skinniest girl I know seems to be eating every time I see her, and things I would never have the nerve to eat like chips and candy. (I do eat candy sometimes....)

I have a lot of weight to lose without exercising yet but the results this week were encouraging. So I am going to try hard to graze again this next week without ever eating any large portions of anything.

OK that was TMI, but there it is.

  3. I think you're onto something there, Cindy!

Smaller, more frequent meals stoke the fire amd make it burn hotter :-)

  4. Actually there is a book promoting a similar tactic.... The Weigh Down Diet. Before I realized it DD#2 had read it and lost 15 lbs.

Hey, Honey Bee!! Who are you?
