For many years the tree was in the living room.
But now that we are all adult-sized, there is not enough room on Christmas mroning for all the people, the tree, and the gifts.
Hence the foyer location of our nine-footer.
'Hidden art' is found in the 'minor' areas of life. By 'minor' I (Edith Schaeffer)mean what is involved in the 'everyday' of anyone's life, rather than his career or profession. Each person has some talent which is unfulfilled in some 'hidden area' of his being, and which could be expressed and developed.
Your table looked a lot like ours. We had a bright red tablecloth with the same china settings. Our advent wreath candle were lit...well, three of them were lit :-) We had homemade minestrone with freshly baked sourdough bread. For the afternoon, we baked cutout cookies, then decorated them. I think everyone had a wonderful time. We've not gotten our tree yet.... But it's definitely on the agenda for today!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour home always looks so warm and welcoming!
I love the placement of the tree. We haven't put one up yet. With the woodstove cranking, trees don't do well for long periods of time.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I always love your place settings. The soup looks so yummy, as does the cup of tea.
